Quick answer

Is Valcrad worth using?

Yes — Valcrad is the control-flavored Secret. Pro Game Guides places him S, Beebom SS, and his signature is Coffin Trap: a 7-second boss stun that no other documented unit matches. Where Madaro kills bosses faster, Valcrad makes bosses stop. His crits also permanently grow his range, so he scales the longer a run lasts.

Tier placements are the two public tier lists (Pro Game Guides and Beebom), shown side by side because they disagree on several units — see the full tier list for how we handle conflicts.

How to get

How to get Valcrad

Use the banner route, and do not plan around a made-up per-unit chance.

  1. Step 1

Valcrad comes from summon banners as a Secret. Community videos describe hunting him as 'the 0.01% Secret' — but no official summon rate is published anywhere, so treat that number as folklore, not data. The 0.1% figure you may have seen is the TRAIT rate for Immortal.

  2. Step 2

Bank gems first: the codes page funds thousands of gems at Level 10, and a featured banner that lists Valcrad beats the standard pool.

  3. Step 3

Players in videos call him Alucard — searching showcase gameplay under the original name finds more runs than the in-game spelling.

Kit and role

How Valcrad fits a team

Coffin Trap — the 7-second boss seal

Valcrad's standout ability seals a boss in a coffin for a 7-second stun — once per boss, on an 18-second shared cooldown. In a genre where bosses walk through your defenses on timers, a 7-second full stop is the strongest documented control effect in the game.

Chain it with your team's damage windows: freeze the boss inside your carry's range, not at the map edge. The 18-second cooldown means you get roughly two seals per boss phase — plan the second one before you spend the first.

Third Eye — crits that grow range forever

Third Eye grants +15% crit chance, and every crit permanently stacks his range, up to +10%. Over a long run this compounds: more range means more enemies in range means more crits. He is one of the few units that gets stronger the longer a mode runs.

This is also why crit traits are his best picks — they feed the loop from both ends.

Bloodthirst — bleed-synergy damage

Bloodthirst adds +3% damage per bleeding enemy on the field, capped at +10%. It rewards teams that apply bleed widely before Valcrad's bursts land.

If your roster has no bleed sources, treat this as a small flat bonus rather than a build-around — the cap keeps it honest.

Restriction Release — the Ghoul endgame

Restriction Release levels down every 36 kills; at zero, Valcrad summons a Ghoul every 15 kills that fights at +60% speed. On wave-heavy modes he ends up with a personal escort squad.

This is why Infinite-mode teams rate him highly even beyond boss fights — the Ghouls compound with every wave cleared.

Suggested traits for Valcrad

Valcrad's whole kit multiplies off crits — Third Eye already grants +15% crit chance, and every crit permanently adds range. Crit-chance and damage traits feed both the stun loop and the range snowball. Immortal (one per team) or Overseer are the community's realistic ceilings.

Community picks, not official data — the trait table has every effect and rate, and the reroll calculator shows your odds before you spend.

Spend decision

Should you spend gems chasing Valcrad?

If bosses are your wall and your damage is fine but timing isn't: Valcrad is the pick. The 7-second stun converts near-miss waves into clears, and both tier lists independently place him in their top band (PGG S, Beebom SS).

If you already own Madaro: the two overlap as 'the Secret you build around', but they solve different problems — burst versus control. Teams that stall well benefit more from Valcrad; teams that lack damage benefit more from Madaro.

Rates honesty: nobody publishes unit summon rates. Budget for disappointment, use featured banners when he is listed, and let the codes page fund the attempts.

FAQ

Valcrad questions

Is Valcrad the same as Alucard?

Yes — Valcrad is the renamed Alucard (Hellsing) unit, and players plus YouTube showcases use both names. 'Valcrad (Unleashed)' is the full in-game form name.

Is Valcrad a 0.01% summon?

Community videos call him 'the 0.01% Secret', but no official unit summon rate is published anywhere. The similar 0.1% figure that IS documented is the Immortal trait rate. Expect Secrets to be rare; don't plan around a specific number nobody verified.

Valcrad or Madaro — which Secret first?

Need boss damage → Madaro (Heaven Splitter 500%). Need boss control and late-run scaling → Valcrad (Coffin Trap 7s stun + permanent crit range). Both sit in the top band of both public tier lists.

What's the best trait for Valcrad?

Crit chance and damage multipliers — they feed Third Eye's range snowball directly. Immortal is the ceiling (0.1%, one per team, pity at 1,300 per community data); Overseer is the realistic Mythic pick.

Does Coffin Trap work on raid bosses?

The wiki documents it as once per boss with a shared 18-second cooldown; raid-specific immunity lists haven't been published yet. Test on the raid's first boss phase before building your strategy around it.

Why do my Ghouls die instantly?

Ghouls arrive only after Restriction Release bottoms out and every 15 kills thereafter, fighting at +60% speed. On high-damage waves they're chaff — their value is body-blocking and cleanup, not tanking.
